AHD is a new technology that allows you to upgrade your system with HD video. AHD cameras also include a UTC chip that allows you to control the camera’s internal options directly from your DVR through the video cable, saving you additional cabling.
Wide Dynamic Range

AHD is an open standard for trait HD analog video transmission that uses traditional coaxial cables – it does not require replacing existing cabling, and it is a much cheaper alternative to IP cameras. AHD currently offers 720p resolution and long transmission distances (inferior only to HD-SDI over twisted pair / CAT 5).
Similar to HD-CVI, and unlike HD-TVI, AHD does not have an image processing engine and is therefore less susceptible to image quality degradation over long distances. This makes AHD a good choice for surveillance applications with a high number of remote locations that need to be served by a central system. It also has the advantage of a low data rate, which reduces power consumption and signal noise on the line.
