Filter Cartridge Consumables

Cartridges are the core of any water filtration system. They are able to remove harmful particles and chemicals that may be found in your water.

Cartridges are available in a variety of sizes and micron ratings. There are also options to increase filter surface area by pleating the cartridges.

Sediment Cartridges

Sediment filters remove large particle matter like dirt, sand and rust that can clog your system or cause other problems. They also decrease turbidity and improve the appearance and taste of your water. They come in a variety of styles and micron ratings. Some are washable and reusable, others are disposable. Most are used as a pre filter before the carbon filtration stage to extend the life of the more expensive carbon cartridge.

High temperature string wound sediment depth filters have stainless steel center tubes rated for temperatures up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit and polypropylene construction for chemical resistance. They contain no binders, additives or lubricants that can leach into your water. These filters are used in a wide range of applications including:

Oil Absorption Cartridges

Designed to absorb free oil molecules from liquids, these filter cartridges help inhibit the formation of acid, which degrades the oil and causes excessive wear. They have rigid structural integrity and uniform graduated void spacing that ensure high pressure drop rates. Their large diameter and big filter area means they require fewer elements for a given flow rate than standard cartridges of the same size.

They’re often used in a filtration system as an oil-absorbing pre-filter before the main filtration process. They’re ideal for contaminated surface water runoff, commercial bilge and ballast water treatment systems and industrial oil & gas production operations.

Constructed with modified cellulose media, these filter cartridges reduce hydrocarbon contamination levels to 95%. They can be used individually or multiple cartridges connected in series to achieve lower hydrocarbon outlet values. They’re able to remove dispersed and Hot and cold purification machine emulsified oils from wastewater, providing up to eight times the efficiency of conventional activated carbon granulate cartridges. They can also be used with a variety of other filter types. These include radial flow carbon filters and sand-based filters.

Melt-Blown Cartridges

Using a process known as melt blowing, manufacturers turn raw polypropylene into a liquid form. Then, this molten PP is blown into tiny fibers by hot, high-velocity air or gas. This process creates an excellent fibrous structure with a graded pore size. This enables the cartridges to trap both larger and smaller particulates, providing exceptional dirt-holding capacity.

The resulting web-like structure is then wound tightly around a core to form the filter cartridges. This ensures varied density with the outer layers having larger pore sizes while the inner layers have smaller pore sizes resulting in superior filtration.

This design offers an exceptional amount of dirt-holding capacity, allowing the cartridges to retain substantial quantities of contaminants before needing replacement, which minimizes maintenance and downtime. Furthermore, these cartridges are free of binders and surfactants, which reduce the risk of contamination in the filtered fluid.

The 100% all-polypropylene construction allows for wide chemical compatibility and low extractables, ensuring compliance water filter with hot and cold dispenser with FDA standards. Additionally, the bonded fiber construction minimizes migration and resists particle shedding under pulse conditions. These features offer the versatility and value to serve a variety of industries, including water treatment, food processing, and chemical processing.

Polypropylene Wound Cartridges

Wound cartridges are made from a durable FDA approved polypropylene or bleached cotton yarn wound around a central core in a honeycomb construction pattern. This construction provides high permeability, higher dirt loading capacity and superior chemical compatibility for a wide range of system fluids. They offer true depth filtration and low pressure drop, making them ideal for a variety of industrial processes.

Choosing the correct filter depends on the contaminant load and flow rate of the liquid being filtered. Higher contaminant loads require larger cartridges. It also depends on the chemicals and temperature that will be contacting the cartridge. Some materials are better suited for neutral or acidic chemicals, while others can handle extreme temperatures.

In addition to size, micron ratings and end cap configurations, the cartridge’s material should be compatible with your process’s temperature. This ensures proper function, performance and longevity. In addition, it can help prevent unwanted leaching into the liquid being filtered. Ideally, the cartridge should be rinsed with clean water before it’s first used. This will prevent unnecessary chemical leaching during operation.

Polypropylene Pleated Cartridges

PP pleated cartridges offer more surface area, higher dirt loading capacity, consistent performance and longer life. They are also available in a larger selection of micron ratings, end cap types and configurations and can be custom made to meet specific application requirements.

The filtration elements in these cartridges are constructed of a polypropylene microfiber hot-melt entanglement and the fiber randomly forms a three-dimensional nano-porous structure in space to create an extremely large surface area. Moreover, they are not sticky and contain no adhesives, making them suitable for a wide range of system fluids. They are also manufactured in a clean environment with professional hot-melt welding technology and do not produce secondary pollution.

Compared to spunbonded cartridges, these polypropylene pleated cartridges are more cost-effective. They are also capable of providing deeper filtration due to their unique gradient density micro fiber media. This means that they can effectively resolve a wide variety of contaminants presenting in oilfield fluids, such as entrained solids and water that cause formation blockage, thus increasing production rates. This also allows them to work at higher temperatures than other types of cartridges and deliver high flow rates with low differential pressure.
